What is a good, but inexpensive, white wine for cooking?

Anything that you like to drink is good for cooking - stick to the rule that if a wine is horrid to drink, then it'll be horrid to eat too!

Any of your lower end drinkable white wines would be acceptable. Try to stay away from the sweeter versions, muscato, reisling, etc. Try a chardonnay or sauvignon blanc.
