internet access? ths could be from the second that you access the internet to getting active like making purchases online and downloading music. what are the major threats to your computer!!??

If your computer is not behind a firewall and it's software firewall isn't turned on it only takes a minute or two for a windows machine to be attacked and infected if it is not fully up to date on it's security patches.

If the vendor is reputable, online transactions are generally safe (if they don't store your credit card info on their systems where it might get hacked into.)

If you are accessing any kind of secure site over a wirless connection that is not WPA or WPA2 encrypted, your session can be hi-jacked and your info stolen... (EVEN if it's a secure site you are connecting to... NEVER give out any kind of secure info (don't enter passwords, go to secure sites etc.) when you are connected to a public wireless network)

Downloading music is safe, as long as it is from a legitimate site. If you are downloading "free music" from a file-sharing system, they could easily be infected with viruses and exploits, not to mention possible legal trouble.

The major threats (to a windows PC) are trojans/viruses/spyware. Almost all of which are introducted to the system by a user not being fully up to date with security patches, not runnig a GOOD (NOT NORTON) antivirus, and by clicking on links to "Free stuff, cleaners, check your pc for free" etc.... on, shall we sall "less than legitimate" sites.
