i'm a very small guy, around 110 lbs. and 5 foot 5 inches. im fairly skinny but not muscular. i was wondering what martial art would help me stay fit and defend myself. it must be applicable to real life and be hard work but....FUN! any ideas?

Aikido...it's meant to use the opponents force against them...either that or Wing Chun (as it was designed by a woman)

Wing Chun was bruce Lee's early system and is very effective for smaller people. The system was developed by a female warrior monk and is portrayed in the "Ip Man" movies that have recently come out. The movie leaves out one of the most important weapons though, which is the finger jab to the eyes. This eye jab allows a much smaller person to blind a larger attacker and escape.

Tachi, judo, muay Thai, or akido.

But mostly judo because it has to do with how you control your center of gravity and pull on earth. You can learn to make yourself lighter of heavier. One of my GF's pals is really small and skinny but he won 3rd at national olympics for martial arts. Im a football player RB and i tried picking him up and i couldnt even though he is like 100 pounds lighter than me. He just stood still and i couldnt lift him, then he flipped me... Lol. It's also great for self defense.
