I have to write an essay about Frankenstiens monster. Here's the question:

One of the main themes in the novel is loneliness and isolation. In an essay, explain how the idea of the monster's "self fulfilling prophecy" occurs.

What is it saying?????
so, is it saying like what events in the book led up to his self fulfilling prophecy of being lonely? or no?

A self fulfilling prophecy, to keep it short and simple, means that if you expect something to be a certain way, you're going to see it that way. For example if you say to yourself "This is going to be a horrible day", then you will go through your day maximizing all the bad stuff that happens and minimizing all the good stuff. So at the end of the day, you are going to reflect on it, remember the bad things, and decide that yes, it was a horrible day, regardless of what really happened. Hope this helps a little. I can't put it in the context of Frankenstein because I never could bring myself to finish the book.

Something predicted about someone who manages to do or be what was prophesied.

Example: Someone was born and the midwife prophesied the baby would die by her 30th birthday, the day before the now 29 year old's birthday, she hyperventilates and dies in fear.
