What is it with people that say that rap sucks and takes no talent?

I get it that most today are awful, but there are some very skill-full people out there. Try and take all the time you want and I'm sure you couldn't even put up any rhyme as good as Eminem, BIG or Nas ....

Just remember ... all genres have awful acts ... and for every awful rapper there are 5 awful bands.

I'm a HUGE fan of Eminem and pre 1996 rap .... those are skill-full people .... no comment on most acts today ....

And while I'm a HUGE fan of bands like The Strokes, Oasis, The Killers and Eric Clapton .... I would rather listen to awful rap over anything by Creed, Limp Bizkit, Good Charlotte, Alien Ant Farm, Lifehouse and many other awful rock bands.
 
These people who say rap takes no talent are clearly ignorant. I challenge any of these detractors to put rhymes together & reflect the darker side of life in their rhymes like the coup, dead prez, common, public enemy, etc.. that takes talent or freestyle like the old school rappers like Big Daddy Kane & the rest of the juice crew.
The trouble is too many people look at the rappers who talk about guns & violence & think all hip hop is of this genre. As you know there are many genres of hip hop. Keep the faith my friend!

You've got to take into account of today's rapper if you want to compared them to today's pop bands

Secondly, speaking of talent, you have to compare them to the technical talent required in their own genre


While you may not be a fan of Lifehouse and good charlotte, they basically still have talents in vocals. They have talents in the instruments that they play, and its called talent because its not something every tom d*ck harry can do.


If you want to come up with such statistic, it takes more than just personal preference

and for the record, i disagree that there are more bad bands than there is bad rappers
 
I personally am not into rap but I think the people who say those kinds of things just get so disgusted with the lyrics talking about Drugs and rape and that they are making money off of it and teaching kids that its ok to cheat and steal ect.
And especially to woman A LOT of the music is very degrading because often in rap music they talk about woman as if they are possessions and good for nothing but sex and it's very very offending


Anyways once they get their first impression of rap music they think it's all the same and don't bother listening for the good stuff
 
because those people are obviously very ignorant and closed minded.
