What is Skyrim like (the computer game, not psp or anything)?

I am thinking of buying it but all I know about it is that you kill dragons on it, and I can't get a sensible answer out of my friend when I ask her about it. Help???
 
Skyrim is way more than killing dragons. It is it's own world. It is a quest style gameplay where you talk to this guy and he tells you to go int this dungeon and kill this person or retrieve this artifact. But you can do so much in that no one can really tell you in full detail what the game is. You have to buy it and play it and make your own story. You can be a hero of the Nords or the imperial conquerer of all of skyrim. I mean dude just buy. It's easily game of the year for 2011
 
It's an open-world RPG, where you take on quests of your own choosing, customize your character, and learn skills, and spells, while uncovering a deep storyline. You can play from first person, or 3rd person perspectives.
