what is the 60s 70s or 80s sci-fi movie i am thinking of?

it was about some kind of human millitary group on another planet that was battling creatures that looked like giant alien bugs that when they got shot had orange blood/guts. i saw the movie 12 years ago and cant figure out what it is, also i was really little and special efects were not great but these special effects were notably worse, even for the time it was made. very vague, maybe some one knows what i am thinking of...
