What is the best automobile for long road trips?

My husband and I and our 6 month old baby are going on a road trip ... We will be in 3 states and I want to rent out a car/van that will be comfy for us ... my husband is 6'7'' so It must have a roomy drivers side ~

and I want something that will be good with gas ... we will be traveling through deserts so I dont want to be stopping alot!
