And is Kung-Fu a real name?

I have always wondered what the difference is, or if there is a difference.

Thanks in advance!
OH and Tae Kwondo. I forgot about that one

The difference is...not very much if they are done right.
refer to pugpaws2's answer.

Holy crap, I swear I just asked this question.....WTF

But the answers to my question Basically said

Karate is Japanese, mostly swift chops and hits from the arm.

Kung Fu is Chinese, almost all of the other forms originate form this, It used Kicks AND Chops.. Probably the fasted form form these choices

Edit: Oh and that guy just used my question as an example...I feel famous :'D
Tae Kwon Do is Korean, ALOT of kicks are used, Mostly kicks but combined with chops too..

Gung Fu(kung fu) is more of a speed art.

karate is more of a power art.

Kung-Fu also know as Gung-Fu is a generic name for at least 300-400 different styles of martial arts of Chinese origin. Karate originated in Okinawa, not Japan as many people spout off. The Okinawans introduced Karate to the Japanese in the beginning of the 1900's. Today there are about 50 different styles and sub styles of Karate. some Okinawan and others Japanese. Taekwondo is another generic name for at least 75 different styles of martial arts from Korea.

Note:
I keep seeing people that post things that are misleading or just plain wrong. Karate originated in Okinawa. to say that Karate came from Japan paints a warped partly true, partly wrong picture. It originated in Okinawa, then was introduce to Japan. today there are style of Okinawan and Japanese Karate.......

The comment about Kung-fu being about speed and Karate about power is way off.....
