The scenario is, you just started working at a company and a person is walking around introducing you to people. She introduced you to someone who is in their office sitting down and she stops at the doorway and introduces the two of you from "afar." This is very awkward.

Do you stay at the doorway and wave, smile and say Hello nice to meet you, or do you say excuse me, may I? Go in and shake their hand and say nice to meet you? The whole things is awkward. I am a woman if it makes any difference... Thanks!

Depending on the distance. If it's within 3 steps I'd personally walk over and give a handshake. But if it's any more than 3 I'd smile, nod, and say hello.

Go in an shake their hand...........you need more confidence..........I don't care if your a woman or not.........

I would just smile and give a friendly wave. Just read the person though, if they seem busy, keep the smile and wave, but if they seem open, go in for the hand shake!

It really depends on the "vibe" you get from the office itself -- which you won't know about until The Day. I wouldn't do more than wave and say some thing like, "Hi, nice to meet you."

I would just wave and smile or smile and nod. That is good enough. It shows them that you knowledge them without being rude.

However, for the person who is sitting or is afar, I think it would be proper to come up to you and shake your hands and say hello. Because it make them look like they don't want to be approached. If that make sense to you.

i think just a hello nice to meet you, if they get up and come over than prob a shake, but i wouldnt barge on into their office :)
