I had this question posted earlier but the communists at yahoo took it down, so much for free speech. Take this down again and I'm calling the ACLU. Now with that out of the way, it's time for me to bellyache.

What is wrong with all of you right wing Christian fanatics? What's with all of that talking in tongues stuff? Not only that; but what about the dancing with snakes? Why do you make your women dress like they are on Little House on the Prairie? And not cut their hair? Who invented this stuff?

Now I know this looks like I'm just complaining and not asking a question but I really want to know why your people do this stuff, honestly. Don't flag this because you don't agree with it. Just give your answer and deal with it.

Well, I'm christian I don't dress like that. I don't dress like a **** either though. I don't like to cut my hair because it looks prettier long and guys think so too. But now I think of it their outfits might be sort of cute if we like modernized it.

I'm Christian, and I LOVE GOD (and Jesus)... (and good people)... (and twilight)...(and Edward cullen)...(and robbert pattinson)...(stop here)

What does talking in tounges mean btw?
Who dances with snakes?

Seriously get your facts straight before you call us weird.

Christians are slaves of the chains that they warship OUT OF PURE FEAR due to indoctrination at an early age

You're not gonna get a reasonable answer out of brain-washed people, maybe only the ones that don't believe it deep down, but act like they believe it just in case there is a hell

Hmmm those don't sound like normal Christians to me. The people at my Christian church don't speak in tounges, wear normal clothes and most of the women there have shoulder length hair. I haven't heard of the dancing with snakes thing.

Anyways, if you want to know what a true Christian is, its the personal relationship with Christ. It is not a set amount of rules or a religion.

I am a Christian and I don't do all does things,,,You are generalizing everyone .....

GIRL HELL NO DONT BE DISRESPECTING JESUS

I have always called them the Yahoo Nazis. Fundies report questions and answers that they want censored.

Not all Christians are the fundie nut job kind, and I know that is not always easy to remember.

The buy-bull is used to justify bigotry, hate, and ignorance.

"The common dogma [of fundamentalists] is fear of modern knowledge, inability to cope with the fast change in a scientific-technological society, and the real breakdown in apparent moral order in recent years.... That is why hate is the major fuel, fear is the cement of the movement, and superstitious ignorance is the best defense against the dangerous new knowledge. ... When you bring up arguments that cast serious doubts on their cherished beliefs you are not simply making a rhetorical point, you are threatening their whole Universe and their immortality. That provokes anger and quite frequently violence. ... Unfortunately you cannot reason with them and you even risk violence in confronting them. Their numbers will decline only when society stabilizes, and adapts to modernity." - G Gaia

Ok, I speak in tongues to communicate to God because that is the language of the Spirit. I don't understand what I'm saying and neither does satan.
As for dressing like i am on little house on the prairie - ew, i dress respectably coz a) i don't want the men staring at my body in church, some men still have to work with their weaknesses you know. b) since i live in a country where 1 in 3 women are raped I don't want to give the impression I'm easy and stuff. c) I don't feel comfortable flaunting my assets, I don't have the best body but I'm blessed in the breasts department and I don't want them all hanging out!!! Why scare the neighbourhood kids with my cellulite invested legs!! ugh!!
I cut my hair all the time.
Some churches are still stuck in the old Aaronic order!! Unfortunately!!! We're under the law of love now and I don't remember Jesus saying, if thou want to enter my kingdom don't cut your hair and dress like pansies! um no!

Freedom of speech doesn't apply to Yahoo Answers because they have posting guidelines you must abide by to use their free services.

First of all, handling those venomous snakes really isn't that common nowadays. In fact, there's probably not even 100 churches in the US where people handle snakes.

Now I have a question for you: what is wrong with all you anti-Christians?

In the first place the ACLU only gets involved in cases in which the Government is violating the Bill Of Rights. Which makes sense because the Bill Of Rights only relates to Government activity.

Secondly "right wing" refers to folks, like myself, who want to keep the government, and therefore federal regulations, out of peoples personal business. We generally cite The Constitution as for legal precedent in support of this attitude. In other words, in citing the Constitution you more or less identified yourself as a member of the right wing.

Now then Christian Fanatics, who make up a very small percentage of the Christians out there, ringlike any other fanatics acting a some sense of insecurity. They find a structured environment with very definite guidelines regarding right and wrong, an environment with absolute standards which gives them the security they lack. They don't have to worry, make decisions, or wonder what the future holds. They simply follow the morale standards (rules) of their subculture and rest secure in the knowledge that all is well. Anybody who disagrees is wrong.

PS. The woman choose to dress that way. They do have minds of their own.

The same thing that is wrong with all 'fanatics' - the fanatics part. They could rightly ask the same thing, though. "What is wrong with all you atheist fanatics?", "All you liberal fanatics", "All you conservative fanatics", the list goes on... and on... and on... The problem is not the belief system, but, as with anything, taking beliefs to an extreme. The not cutting hair and talking in tongues? The dress codes? That's not fanaticism, that's part of a system of social-accepted norms that the society created for itself, according to its beliefs and needs. Until it interferes with the basic rights of the self and others, I doubt it should be classified as fanaticism.
As far as the communists at yahoo, don't bother calling the ACLU. Free speech is protected only from Congress making laws curtailing it. Yahoo is not a representative of the state and, as a private entity, can legally censure its content. If you want unlimited free speech, I suggest starting a blog.
