What kind of things would be fun to do on a scavenger hunt?

my birthday is coming up soon and i wanted to host a huge scavenger hunt around our town, so i want to know what kind of things you think would be fun and not have people being bored during my party...?
 
Once when i was in a church youth group we had a lock in and one of our activities was a scavenger hunt in k mart at 2 in the morning, it was AWESOME! We split into groups and we had a list f items that we had to find and get the price of. It was the most fun ever! You could do something similar to that even around town if you wanted. Like say a napkin from mcdonalds or a straw wrapper from subway who knows...be creative.
