lol. That's not assisted. It's a straight up switch.

thats not a switchblade. its a swingblade.

switchblades slide straight out of the handle. swingblades swing out sideways.

yeah.. swingblades arent illegal in some states. but are in others.. and switch's are illegal in all i think. ..

mainly because you can walk up to someone .. pull it out. stick it to them. push the button and the blade will slide right into them. lol

No, by definition it's a switchblade. Nobody even uses the term "swingblade" for folding switches.
If you press a button to expose the blade, it's a switch. It doesn't matter if it's out-the-front, or is a folder. It's still switchblade.

That's not true at all.

The text for the federal switchblade act says as following:

The term ''switchblade knife'' means any knife having a blade
which opens automatically -
(1) by hand pressure applied to a button or other device in the
handle of the knife, or
(2) by operation of inertia, gravity, or both.

It has nothing to do with whether it opens from the side or front. The fact that it opens with a button is enough for it to be considered a switchblade. You'll find that most state and local laws against automatic knives have similar wording, if it opens automatically with a button (or other mechanism on the handle), it's a switchblade.

Secondly, an "Out-The-Front" (OTF) Automatic is the proper term for a knife where the blade opens out the front. There are two types, single action and double action. Single action you can only open with the button, you have to close it manually. Double action you can open and close with the switch or button on the handle. The reason I bring this up is many single action and the majority of double action OTF knives have a safeguard built in so they don't stab into you or someone else. When pressed against a somewhat hard surface and fired, the blade will pop off it's track. It only locks into place if the blade is allowed to open fully. Thinking that if you open the knife against a person it will "slide right into them" is a common misconception.

I would love a OTF switch but they all look so fucking cheaply built. That last thing i want in a knife is for it to come apart in my hand.

They're tough knives to build well, as they need to be machined with a somewhat loose tolerance for the blade to slide properly, but when made too loose they look and feel cheap. A manufacturer has to find a good balance, making sure the fit between the blade, mechanism, and handle is precise, but not binding. That's why good OTF automatics are typically pretty expensive and anything less feels cheap. There is really no middle ground when it comes to OTF autos, you either spend big bucks or you wind up with something that feels like it's going to fall apart.

On a side note, I'm supposed to have a Benchmade Infidel coming in, but its been on backorder for a while. Once I get it I'll let everyone know what I think.

lol it's the same one as the one in the vid.

But like it seems like you would have to pull the blade back against the spring to shut it. Which stores like potential energy or whatever and you press the switch releasing it as kinetic? But how can you press a switch and it'll be spring-loaded both ways?

Well, apparently you have never shanked a nigga for looking at you in the wrong way....
:dodgy:
