What is the best martial artMostly for defense, disarming, and counter attack. Like something I could use If a skilled knife user were trying to stab me repetivly. Or just if someone was trying to beat me up I could take them out with a real quick counter. And mabey even defend myself if I got attacked by Jason borne.

There is no better or best martial art. Trying to compare arts is like comparing painting styles. It has a lot of subjective points, and there's really no way of knowing. However, what we do know is that arts taught poorly, are completely and utterly useless. Thus your main focus should be on finding a good school, not what art is best.

Google a list of schools in your area. From here, compile a list of arts you feel are the most interesting or that you like the most. Once you have this list down, go visit the local schools of the style of your choice. While visiting these schools, make sure the instructor is knowledgable and that the school is not a McDojo. Once you have visited all the schools in your area and you have a good list of schools, decide which school you like the best or which one is cheaper, or closer, etc.

ninjitsu then u will be a ninja XD and yes its a legit martial art :)

Tae-Kwon Do and with that Kickboxing (they are very similar), Aikido, Karate (but a lot of those schools are just scams and spiritual crap), Krav Maga, Judo is good for throws if you are a bigger person, Jiu Jitsu has become sort of a joke it's more ground-fighting/wrestling than anything else...If you are truly worried about self-defense you should get a sidearm (or a concealed weapon). Almost all martial arts will give you the speed, focus, and training after enough time and practice to allow you to fend off attackers and escape from a dangerous situation.

Silat or Krav Maga would be your best bet. maybe even hapkido teaches you how not to fight by ending it before it begins hahahahahaha

there's quite a bit to cover here, but ill try and keep it concise.

i can only recommend from my own personal experience, but as a practitioner and instructor, i have trained in several martial arts, all of them with merits of their own.

Primarily, in terms of self defense, i would recommend Krav Maga. It is a fairly comprehensive style that doesn't require you to utilize your body in such a way that you have to force it to do things its not used to or in some cases meant to do. It also does not require you to "retrain" your brain as much as other martial arts may require.

your brain is hardwired a certain way. the subconscious fight or flight response will always want to do certain things in the interest of self preservation. some martial arts occasionally train you to re-task or even ignore that response, which can take a lifetime to effectively utilize. Krav Maga utilizes this hard-wiring, and instead of yanking it out and replacing it bit by bit in a different way, it makes small adjustments to your natural reaction to a fight or flight situation, making them exponentially more effective though training. After a fashion, you already know most of what Krav Maga has to offer, but in taking classes you can perfect that knowledge and turn it into a valuable tool.

however, make no mistake that when a situation arises that may result in violence, always look for the option that will result in either a peaceful resolution, or simply remove yourself form the situation altogether. life is not a kung fu movie, and regardless of what you may know, you WILL get hurt in almost any kind of violent altercation. it is an unavoidable fact of combat. there is no invincible, so if you pick a fight, be prepared to walk away with injury.

remember that as always there is no shortcut to learning, and you will have to apply yourself as much as you would in any other art, but In my opinion and experience Krav Maga produces the most effective and immediate results in the time that you spend learning it.

Hope this was helpful, good luck in your travels, and have fun learning.
