What motorcycle is better sports bike or cruiser bike?

Ok, So I am looking to buy a bike, I like them both but don't no what kind to buy. So what bike is better for long trips and what bike is more comfortable and what bike is funner to drive. Please Help Thanks.
(If you can suggest any bikes That would be great to)
 
Check out the BMW F 800ST, it is a nice compromise between the two types.
 
how long is a long trip?? comfort.. would be a cruiser.. fun?
one mans torture is another mans fun???

suggest a bike... your a newbie... go buy a second hand reasonable condition CB250 Honda & learn to ride first..in a years time when you have an idea.. you wont need to ask what bike next??
