I have a requirement to purchase a server that can support an application similar to eHarmony that over the next year will grow to 20,000 users
How many users can I expect to be using the system concurrently (assuming the same use as eHarmony/Match etc)
would either of these servers be adequate?
Option 1 VPS:
Linux Virtual Server
4GB Guaranteed RAM
8GB Burstable RAM
2 x Intel Xeon E5520 (2.26GHz, 8M Cache, 5.86 GT/s QPI, Turbo, HT), 1066MHz
Burstable 100Mbit Connection
Option 2 Dedicated:
Linux Dedicated Server
2GB RAM
2 x 3.06GHz
10Mbit connection
The VPS obviously looks better but I'm concerned with sharing resources and also the word 'Burstable' I assume means that it's a theoretical limit as opposed to what I actually get?
I'm looking at the servers on
http://www.webfusion.co.uk/virtual-private-servers/
http://www.webfusion.co.uk/dedicated-servers/
Obviously price is a major concern too!
Any help would be much appreciated
