what should i do with my nutrition degree?

I have a bachelor's degree in (applied/dietetics track) nutrition. I originally wanted to be a registered dietitian but changed my mind and am no longer interested in doing an internship. I can't afford to go on in school and I really don't know what to do with my degree now.

All of the jobs I find in searches require an RD and/or years of experience (which I don't have), or are geared towards people with no degree (read part-time minimum wage)..
 
Hi Nicole, I'm not a member here and in fact I'm not sure what this site even is but I simply googled "what to do with my nutrition degree" and this came up so I figured I'd help you out.
I graduated last year down here in MA with the same degree (but with the DPD) and did not know if I wanted to go further into an internship. My advice to you would be to take out a loan and go back for the internship, if your grades were poor -- talk with your advisor and get some advice. Eventually, you will be limited by your lack of the RD credential. The only real other option is food service management...depending on your interest(s) --- you could look into healthcare, education, business, etc. food service management positions. Another option is community nutrition -- WIC offices who will hire people as "nutritionists." Unfortunately, the RD is -- in many ways -- a union card...and without it, your not "in." You'll pretty much be perceived as someone who is NOT an expert. So in summary, what it boils down to is this -- go back to school (loan if you have to) and do either a Co-op masters/RD, get into an internship to be an RD, get into food service management, get into community nutrition, or get into something completely different -- i.e. sales (will not be easy for many companies). As for me, I got hired as a dietetic technician in the healthcare setting, got promoted to food service management and am now looking for FS director positions in healthcare...it is NOT easy though...I've been struggling to find jobs in this economy w/ limited credentials -- I'm also CDM/CPT.
