What size of subwoofer do i need?

I am finishing my basement and need to know what size of subwoofer is good for me. I have a five room basement but only three rooms will need the sound. One of the rooms is a master bedroom the other a movie theater and the other a game room. I will be watching movies and I want the best experience for it. Also I listen to a lot of dubstep (electronic and dance music with lots of deep bass) I want a sub that can get loud but I don't have to spend extra money for watts tba I will never use. What size and type of subwoofer should I get trays relatively cheap too

Why do you need it in 3 rooms? Is the only thing you need a subwoofer? Just straight up throw a couple of alpine type r 12's or some rockford fosgate p3's in a custom box and hook them up to your amp. They're pretty awesome in the trunk of a car so why would they suck in a basement?
