...advise, it hurts my nose!? We're in a rental that has got some mould/ventilation issues. But the only visible mould is in the sealant just behind the kitchen sink (a contractor removed some but it is coming back).
But I keep noticing a strong musty rusty smell in one corner of the lounge that really hurts my nose, I don't know what to do as I can't see the cause. I don't think the landlord will respond if I just say that, but it is really getting me down. I don't want to have to move out but when its bad, ow!
What can I tell the agent/landlord or do myself? Please help!
In that corner there is a cupboard with meters in, can't see any mould in there. Dusty, but smell no worse if I open door to it. Also I wonder if damp could be coming in from the street, there seems to be a gap between the floorboard and the skirting board.
I feel a bit despairing about the smells around the house, but because we don't own it we can't do much to change it ourselves. But if it could be sorted it would be good as anywhere else round here on our budget might be the same.
The house is over a century old, and its in London not far from smelly old Father Thames.
J, it is interesting what you say about dry rot. I hadn't thought of it but the neighbours who live on the top floor flat did tell me that they have a large zig zag crack down their ceiling wall, could that be linked?
