Last month I was caught shoplifting. I'm 15. It was my first (and only) time being in trouble with the police. My mother and I got a letter in the mail saying I had a meeting, interview and assessment at the Juvenile Detention center today, because "a formal filing of charges may not be necessary". It also said I would be taking some kind of assessment tests called a YLS/CMI and MAYSI-2.
I know I did something really, really stupid by shoplifting, and I'm sorry for it. But today, I am so afraid to go to this meeting. I have no idea what to expect. Can somebody please help me out by telling me about what I should expect, what kind of questions I'll be asked and what the people there will want to know, and anything else that might be helpful? I don't want to be so nervous there that I say or do something wrong or stupid and make more trouble.
Thank you so much to anyone who responds.
