What will it cost to fix a leaking transmission on 1996 GMC 2wd sonoma?

My transmission has been leaking for a couple of months and has progressively gotten worse. It looks like its leaking right where the transmission meets the engine(main seal?). It also tends to leak more when its parked on a downhill incline. I've never had any transmission work done on a vehicle before and would like to know.What's it going to run me to get this fixed? Thx

well tranny would have to come out and depending if the seal is leaking or the pump seal would be leaking that is going to chage the cost
