What would be a good sport bike to transition to?

I have a Yamaha xs1100 right now and am looking for a sport bike or street bike that is lighter but i still want one with as much power as the bike i have right now.
 
The xs1100 made a lot of power for its day, but it is a bit of a dinosaur. there are a lot of current bikes with more power, acceleration and top speed. They will all handle better too.
