glowing symbol over their head? Just an interesting thought I had... How do you think that people would act towards each other in Western society if our belief system were a symbol floating over our heads, (like the big red Arby's hat)?

In some Eastern societies, you can tell by the way a person dresses. Of course that is no indication of the devoutness of that person, but it's still an indication.

As a cynic, I feel our discretion about our beliefs is what keeps our society functioning smoothly (ideally anyway) on the "don't ask don't tell" policy, but if that layer of privacy were stripped away, I have to wonder what would happen. What are your thoughts?

not much away from the yellow star that the Jews were made to wear in WWII is it.

Discrimination would follow in fairly short order I predict!!

I don't believe it would do anything except help further biases. The people, those who have no problem with other religions and respecting people's rights to their own beliefs, don't need an indication of the religion because it won't change anything. But for those people that don't like certain groups, it will cause problems because they will stop respecting anything coming from the groups they dislike and they will work against the groups they dislike.

It isn't so much "don't ask, don't tell". No one has a problem with someone saying, and people ask. In business "Your religion isn't affecting your professional life, so why should I care?" and in personal "It doesn't matter, so why ask?"

I would have a valid basis for determining whether Christians cut people off more in traffic than others. So far my analysis is based upon "fish" window decals, but as the car could be driven by another it is not a certain means of determination.
