What year Porsche 911 would be the best investment for me to buy?

The 993 (air cooled) models tend to hold their values better than the later 996 and 997 (water cooled) varieties.
I've got a second-hand 996 Turbo...I think it's great...(until it comes to servicing it!)

I am finally ready for my first 911. I am looking for a convertible model 911. I have been looking at 86-88 models and can probably get a nice one for about $20k. It appears the prices of the 86-88 models are going up? Also is anyone familiar with a G-50 clutch? Do I want one with this? Also should I consider the Carrera 2/4 1989-1994?? I love the more modern look of those years but not sure if it will bring me a good resale a few years down the road? I would probably own this 911 for many years but just want to make sure I get a 911 that would bring me good money in case I want to sell after a few years. Any suggestions please??
