I'm looking for a book that is from the perspective of one character. As in it doesn't change narrators every few chapters... for some reason I can never really get attached to more than 1 character. Some of the fantasy books I love are: The Riddle-Master of Hed, The Name of the Wind, The Lies of Locke Lamora, LotR, Ender's Game etc. I don't particularly mind if the intended audience of the book is younger - I very much enjoyed The Maze Runner, Harry Potter, Sabriel and Bartimaeus.

Basically, I love books that have elements of magic, thrill, mystery, good (preferably clever) characters and an overall sense of adventure. I do not enjoy books where romance plays a key role or ones where its not easy to relate to the main character. Most importantly, though, is that the book focuses on the events from only one characters view (or 2 if the other is reeeeeeeeeeally interesting). Preferably not a solo adventure though - every good adventure needs a party with someone for comic relief.

Look into the books by Andre Norton. If you are really lucky, you may find one of her early space operas, my favorites, although her Witch World series got the critical acclaim.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Since you liked Harry Potter, the Oprah Book Club recommends for you to read Eragon, next!
(PS: I enjoyed both Harry Potter and Eragon! I loved Eragon even more!!)
