whats is the upfront cost to own one of those DVD now boxes?

I like to buy a dvd now rental unit box. I like to know the upfront cost and if its even worth the trouble. It seems that red box has the market cornered. The thought I have is once so did McDonald's. What are some of the cost the will come up as the business begins? Will it be profitable or is this just another scam?
