What's the best/most affordable blue ray player?

I'm looking to buy a blu ray player for a gift. I have no idea what to look for when buying one.
I want something affordable, but still of good quality.
They don't need the best of the best, but definitely good quality!
Any suggestions on brands and types and where to buy from?

I got last year's Philips Blu-Ray BDP5005/F7 at WalMart for $100. I had to upgrade the firmware as soon as I brought it home, but that's no big deal and it's worked extremely well ever since.
