Hi guys i really want to be a cartoonist, i love to draw, im really good at it, i always love drawing and watching cartoons, because it clears mt mind and relaxes me, but i want to make cartoons, you know draw them out, and somehow turn them into tv shows, but im more into the drawing. i just want to know if i would have to become an animator to make cartoons, or would it still be okay as a cartoonist, please let me know. I would also like clarification on what an animator and cartoonist is? If you could help me i would really appreciate it thanks!!!!

A cartoonist is someone who draws out comics or cartoons. They do not make the cartoons, they just draw certain pictures for the cartoon like character designs and backdrops. Cartoonists are mostly known for making comics though, and very few are still in the cartoon business.

An animator is the one who does all the digital work. They make the cartoon come to life using a computer, rather than a paper and pencil. Animators also make the cartoon move, which is a long and tedious process. These people are the ones who make cartoons, as oppose to cartoonists who create comics.

Maybe they should rename them.....comicists? XD
