Whats The Latest iTouch Generation?

I am trying to find out what the latest iTouch Generation where it is the 3rd 4th or 5th. please help for a best answer!
 
I believe the latest iPod Touch is still the 3rd generation, but a new OS has come out recently for it. It's a 4th generation OS that is available for upgrade free from iTunes.
