I asked this question a few weeks ago, but got no proper answer, so I'm hoping maybe someone has read this and can tell me the title now >< I'd really appreciate it!

As far as I remember the plot line is something like this:
The main point of conflict in the novel arises due to this villain trying to get a piece of land that the heroine owns, I think.

Basically, there was a string of purchases of land (prior to the attacks on the heroine's own property) that occurred under suspicious circumstances (fires etc.). What happened was that after one of these attacks that either lower the value of the property or make it hard of the occupants to remain there, an offer to buy the place would be made. In the book, the heroine is in possession of a crucial piece of land needed to fulfill the villain's plans (to make money through buying up the land and building railway tracks across that part of England)

It turns out that the so-called villain is someone who hired representatives to purchase the land, not knowing that they'd use nefarious method to procure it. He planned to use the land to build railways (which was apparently lucrative), but once he realised how the land was being bought and that the innocent land owners were being harmed, he immediately tried to make amends.

In the end he 'kidnapped' the heroine and brought her to a rope-bridge where he cut the ropes holding the bridge up so that it would only support the weight of him and the heroine. There, he tried to convince the hero to confess his love for the heroine to try to 'right his wrongs' in a way. Then when that failed, he cut the rope and plunged to his assumed death (I think he might not have died, and might have been found washed up on some shore since he fell into a river, but I'm not sure if I remember that correctly). And of course, the hero and heroine had a happy ending:)

Yeah…so the plot line is something like that. It sounds better in the book though. It's a historical romance, but I can't remember the title…any ideas?

It has been published for a while…I borrowed it from my library but they don't have a 'history' section :/ I read it around last year or the year before….by then it was already out for a least a year from 2010. Sorry, I can't remember much about it other than the storyline, which is why I'm asking haha
