when i first someone, i try my best to make the person feel comfortable around me....that's my main concern...i am totally friendly and informal with the person and make them feel like they have known me for years just to break the ice. i give the person a hug and crack jokes and talk about my life. in email i do just the same....i try to be informal and friendly but keep my distance a little so the person doesn't feel i'm too nice.
