Or does it pretty much mean the same thing as lol (Im trying to show you im in a happy/joking mood).
 
My bf likes rofl when I say something in a jokey way but we both know it was a bad joke. I'm good at bad jokes ;)

Haha, okay? Haha...i'm a guy...it's just an LOL... for us, it sounds gay to say, 'HEHEHE, ummm....LOL' Laugh My Fucking Ass off is so much more masculine! :)
