When are "real" MMA fans going to realize that UFC and others are not trying to

reach them, but us causal fans? When are "real" MMA fans (those who are "bad," wear affliction clothing, and have tattoos, because apparently if you are none of these you are not an MMA fan) going to realize that MMA companies are not advertising to them, but to us causal fans? The UFC knows that you guys will buy any of their 3 hour commercials...............uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........I mean PPV's. Us causal fans will not buy anything unless Brock Lesnar, Tito Ortiz, and other big name fighters are competing. It is because of us Casual fans that MMA is blooming. If it were still target to "real" fans then this sport would be a complete bore to watch.

your continuous misspelling of CASUAL, was bother me too much to figure out exactly what you were talking about. but from what i did catch it sounded like you have no idea what your talking about. So i think you can go back to being a causal...i mean..C-A-S-U-A-L fan now. Hey btw, Tito Ortiz is fighting at ufc 106 so you can buy that one :)

what are you talking about? they are targeting the real fans. I've been watching UFC since the 90's and all the fights they put on and the reality shows still appeal to the real die hard fans. Posers like you are pretty fucking annoying, MMA isn't about wearing a stupid t shirt, it's about appreciating the sport and how far it's come.
And what is this bullpiss about 3 hour commercials? Those PPV events have some badass undercard fights, some being even more exciting than the actual main event. But of course a fucking sheep like you that just follows what's popular wouldn't realize how good the fights are. If it wasn't for die hard fight fans that buy PPV or tickets, regardless of who's fighting, the sport wouldn't be where it is today. Just because there isn't a big name in a fight, it doesn't make it any less exciting.

You're so angry. I think you just need a hug.

I'd say I'm one of those "real" MMA fans you resent so much and I'm happy to say I have no tattoos, and own no Affliction branded clothing, oh yea and I dabble with the whole 'fighting' thing too. That blow your mind?

Look... you obviously resent that there are people out there that know more about the sport than you do and that's fine. Us "real" MMA fans will continue to watch the UFC, even though less popular guys headline. Heck, we might even watch Dream and Strikeforce cards as well. We're THAT crazy.

Surprisingly, your post didn't anger me like I thought it would. You just have no idea what you're talking about. After all, you still think Tito Ortiz is a big name. :-)

I'm not even sure I understand your question. Whatever Dana White is doing is working. I enjoy his blogs, no other sports outlet shows you behind the scenes the way Dana's blogs have. Personally, if Dana White could make money off selling balloons or birthday cakes good for him.

My point is it's a business. The sport needs to be run like a business to reach fans and profit. I was a huge boxing fan in the 80s and 90's then I got hooked on mma, actually it was K-1 back then that got me started. Instead of waiting to see 2 or 3 fighters, I now have 10 or 15 guys I wanna see fight.

Excuse me; but what is your point? I think they are trying to turn the casual fan into a real MMA fan. The events are too watered down at this point, only a couple of cards have been good this year. Boxing is going to kick their a$$ next year unless they put on better shows.
