When Obama says "Common sense tax hikes" what does he mean?

LOL that made me laugh so hard. Taxes are like taking a wrecking ball to the economy. I guess theoretically they are a necessary evil but after I get my degrees I might not work in the US if taxes are too high. I hear good things about New Zealand.

he means he wants to raise taxes...common sense is just the candy-like wrapper he puts words in so the stupid will think it is not them being taxed...

He means lets return to the tax rates of the 1990s when we saw the longest economic expansion in history, full employment, budget surpluses record low poverty.

Like not taxing investment income lower than work income.

Like taxing pollution.

etc...

If carter really gutted the military then that would mean Reagan would NOT have had to raise taxes. The military cost money.

no taxes, = no government = anarchy
In America the system has always been "progressive " income tax rates. those that have the most pay the highest rates. at times it was over 90% , although the very rich rarely paid that much.

today the income tax rate is relatively low. Remember if you get a salary it is income and can be over 35%
but if you have investments it is "capital gains" and the limit is much lower I think 15%

those with the lowest income pay the highest share of taxes because everything they need has sales tax SS withholding , etc.

like ancient rome, the wealthy paid nothing, slaves did all the work and the country stole from everyplace its army conquered>
what happened to ancient Rome?

He means he is going to raise your taxes in an unreasonable way and then say that anyone who complains lacks common sense. It's like telling a lie and naming it "The Truth" so no one dare argue with it.
