I have a movie in the works with my book publisher, and i have a new idea for a new movie, not related to the other one, i have a screenplay and everything, and i want to meet studio executives, where should i go to 'mingle', in a relaxes atmosphere, like a bar, club, etc.

Not a Bar, Not a club.. Most Directors and Producers are overwhelmed with amount of candidates for actors/actresses, writers, etc... You need to retain an agent with contacts, they are going to your best contact.. If the agent believes in your work/project, he will work harder negotiate with the "studio executives"..

Beware of many scams...

One of the best places to go is a University that teaches film. You could schedule an appointment to talk to any one of the professors who teach there. They usually already have plenty of experience with working in the industry. I know a lot of people visit the university I attend just to get contacts from the Professors, in the industry. The best professor to speak with might be a Screenwriting professor. I don't know if you're familiar with the film "Brooklyn's Finest". The writer asked my screenwriting professor to read it and help give him contacts. My professor showed it to his agent and he thought it was so good that it went into production. So film professors are actually really great contacts. They know a lot of people in the industry and where some of them hang out. They are also good with explaining who would be perfect for you to work with. It's not just about finding any film producer. It's about finding the producer who likes backing up the kind of script you wrote. Not all producers produce romantic screenplays. Not all produce action screenplays. You should speak to a film professor and ask who would be the right producer for you to contact. In case of an emergency, they could also give you lots of tips on what to do if no body wants to produce your script. It happens even to the greatest screenwriters sometimes. There are ways to financing an independent film without the use of a Hollywood based producer.
