Can someone tell me where the NO HOMO sh1t started? Its not used much in Oz at all so I am guessing it came from the U.S, - just wondering what started it - an ad or somethinge else? cause I find it really objectionable...
Thanks Guys - lil wayne is not that popular here so makes sense I wouldn't have heard the song that much and that the term would not be in use here because of that.

No, not Li'l Wayne, (though he may use the term too) I believe it was started by either The Diplomats or Kanye West, as I've heard him say it a good few times in his songs.

I am not sure where it came from but I just know it is used a lot these days. I just have no idea where they really get it from.

Of course it came from us here in the USA... This is a good question.. Your probably one of the best on Yahoo...No Homo

I dont even think it is a derogatory remark, Homosexual, Homo is just short for that word

So you assume this specific homophobic phrase stemmed from the U.S. Interesting.

It's said by teenagers that are at the stage that their number one goal is to convince people that they aren't gay.

I love you, full homo.

I don't know where it started but I really don't like it. I think there are even several users here with "NO HOMO" in their name. When it comes to the "gay perception" I feel like we move two steps forward and one step back. It feels like we're never going to be fully accepted and "normified" in the eyes of society!

it was made famous by Nicki Minaj I believe and now a lot of rappers say it in their songs which made everybody say it

i have no idea, but its so stupid. if your not a HOMO, then you must be an animal.

If it's stupid it must have made the lexicon via South Park, an inane and politically incorrect animated TV show.

Dont know. Its been around a while. Its just an expression when a guy says some thingthat sounds gay, and he follows up with saying "no homo" as a way of saying he isnt gay.

Lil Wayne's song Lollipop... at the begining he quickly sayd "no homo!", before he started singing "she said 'he so sweet, boy I wanna lick da wrapper..."

He's talking from a girl's perspective about sucking a guy off, and wanted to bash homosexuality real quick, before people thought he was gay.

Apparently a lot of sexually insecure homophobes thought it was funny, so it caught on.

yuupp i also believe it was Lil Wayne. one of my friends who particularly dislikes him says that sometimes, and i'm pretty sure he's said it's just to mock him. =/

EDIT: whaatt it was started in the 90's..?
ohh i feel all young and uninformed now. =S
