where does it say that the book of revelations is prophecy?

i just started reading it, its on the first darn page!

lol, i guess i should do my own work....the internet makes people lazy! ha
i do not like reading these things though...i love the word of christ, but the prophecy makes my schizophrenia act up really bad
 
Rev.1:1 "A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented [it] in signs through him to his slave John, 2*who bore witness to the word God gave and to the witness Jesus Christ gave, even to all the things he saw. 3*Happy is he who reads aloud and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and who observe the things written in it; for the appointed time is near."
 
The Book of Revelation was written as a source of encouragement to an early Church under heavy persecution. It has nothing to do with predictions of end times.
