Where to get Chorizo that is used on cooking shows?

The cooking show always use chorizo that is hard and in a link like a sausage, but the only chorizo I've used or seen is the packaged or bulk kind that is way too soft to cut and melts down in the pan. To me chorizo doesn't sound so good in the shows recipes so I wonder if there is a different taste to the hard kind, and what kind of store can I get it from?

mix chorizo with eggs to cut down on the strong flavor. first cook the chorizo for a few minutes then add some eggs to it and scramble them up. add some milk if you like them fluffy.

they sell different types of chorizo. you should go to a carneceria. and ask the butcher.
