Which is better:a Mercedes or an Audi, and why?

I'm looking into buying a new car and i've set my eyes on Audis and Mercedes. But I am not sure which to choose. Which is better for all around safety,gas mileage,and fun? :)
I don't care much for the style but I do lean toward the more sporty cars. Price range doesn't matter. Year-2011.
 
Depends what year you're looking at and if you plan to do maintenance yourself. Newer Mercedes will cost you an arm and a leg to repair. Gas mileage depends on model, but both their classes ( sedans, suvs, coupes.) will probably be about equal. As far as safety Mercedes has been pushing safety as a big feature lately, I'm not trying to say they're really any safer than Audi's, but I know that they have been using it as a selling point.

All in all, it depends on what model you're looking into and for what reasons.. speed, style, ext.
 
MB held the mileage record at 2.85 million miles and theres a Saab going for 3 million miles. if ya lookin for longevity
