It will be cheaper to heat the one room with electric than to heat the whole house
with gas.

If possible switch all radiators off to the rest of the house and have the one radiator
to the lounge on that will be the cheapest way to heat that room.

Electric heaters use a lot of electricity.
The gas is cheaper.

combine then keep the gas thermostat on low and use the space heater to warm up where you are

Climate, how well home is insulated, how many square feet, etc.

I would say gas heating, as its more controllable, more instant,and why waste all that heat on one room?, you will only feel miserable. going from one warm room into another cold one.
As long as you have good insulation, and check all your doors and windows for draughts.
