Sony products have dropped in quality and reliability. Those home theater in a box are not very flexible or are upgradable, when one item fails (normally the disc player) then the whole system have to be replaced. I favor the Onkyo HT-S3300, it is a 5.1 receiver and a set of speaker and all you need is to add a Panasonic Blu Ray disc player BD-65 and you are at under $600. Onkyo is a very good name brand and the Panasonic is the most reliable player in the market today. If you read yahoo questions, you will always find or reading a problem with Sony product. I still use a Panasonic first generation blu ray disc player model DB-10 over 3 years old and have played over 300 Blu Ray disc without any problem. I have used Onkyo receivers for well over 25 years and had had no break down at all. While my 2 Sony tv (one was the first HDTV in the market that listed for $8,000 and I paid $6,400 only lasted 2 years, along with 2 DVD player model 7000 and 7700 both players priced at over $1,000 new only lasted 2 years) lasted 2 years. I would not recommend any Sony product expect the PS3. Hope this will help you out.
