Which stick figure animation program should I use?

I'm looking to create a relatively simple animation series (about one step up in graphical complexity from 'pure' stick figures), and I'm wondering what animation software I should use. Pivot has a rather clunky, rigid look to it's animations, so I'm in the market for something a bit smoother. Free and professional programs are both of interest.
