I searched every church in my community only to find out God was as close as my next thought. Belief has attained the level of faith when it motivates life and shapes the mode of living. The acceptance of a teaching as true is not faith; that is mere belief. Neither is certainty nor conviction faith. A state of mind attains to faith levels only when it actually dominates the mode of living. Faith is a living attribute of genuine personal religious experience. One believes truth, admires beauty, and reverences goodness, but does not worship them; such an attitude of saving faith is centered on God alone, who is all of these personified and infinitely more.

Searching for years!
Even though my christian beliefs are becoming more clear to me, I am still having trouble locating a church who doesn't operate in a way that conflicts with what I believe.
I have been searching through my local churches' websites and listening to their sermons, and reading their credos. So far, nothing truly fits my beliefs. I want to walk up to these churches and ask "What is wrong with you people?". No, just kidding.
I am searching for God, but I want a bible study group, or people I can talk to about the bible. I don't want to be alone. Oftentimes ministers end up having 'church credos' that I don't agree with. But that is me and my story. I would like to hear your story!

I think most people go through that. I cycled through quite a few religions from New Age to oldest to nothingness before I found what I wanted. Religion is tough.

I had that problem too.
Now I just judge the various churches I attend by the quality of the coffee they serve after service or Mass.

as a pagan, i am still searching for one denomination that has it all right. unfortunatly, i don't beleive that it is real. so i beleive what i believe, even if i am the only one. and i try to focus on the good things in the many faiths that are in my life, and ignore the ingnorant stuff.

You'll always be on the look, there's no such thing as a "good" church or religion.

Hey if you need a really good church to attend, try going to a pentecostal church in your area. There you WILL find truth and i promise you will never regret it!!!!!

I have investigated a few different denominations that do not subscribe to the holy trinity for decades and I have concluded that there is no true church on Earth.
However, I have accepted a few religions for their various beliefs upon reading their doctrine.
Stay away from churches that are only interested in taking your money and time to do their works for financial and personal gain.

Features of True Religion

Consider the practices and teachings of first-century Christians:

* They looked to God’s Word as their guide.—2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21.
* They taught that Jesus was God’s Son, distinct from God himself and subordinate to Him.—1 Corinthians 11:3; 1 Peter 1:3.
* They taught that the dead will return to life by means of a future resurrection.—Acts 24:15.
* They were known overall for the love that prevailed among themselves.—John 13:34, 35.
* They did not worship merely as individuals but were organized into congregations and were united under overseers and a central body of elders that looked to Jesus as Head.—Acts 14:21-23; 15:1-31; Ephesians 1:22; 1 Timothy 3:1-13.
* They were zealous preachers of God’s Kingdom as mankind’s only hope.—Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8.

Church shopping is the worst! It seems like that should be the easiest prayer for God to answer, doesn't it? 'Lord, please lead us to the right church for us.' Every time we find one we are okay with, we go for a while, then they start teaching things we cannot abide and it is back to shopping. After a while, I just quit looking. Now my religion is between me and God and I feel pretty good about it. I find Christian fellowship just about wherever I go. Church is not a building nor a club requiring membership but the body of believers that Jesus Christ is Lord. God bless you.

I almost gave up. Then I realized that I needed to clarify my values and THEN choose a matching religion, instead of altering my beliefs to fit a religion.

Suggest you do the same and if you still can't find one, make one up yourself. All religions were invented by humans at one point anyway.

The search shouldn't be for a religion or for a church. The search should be for God. Luke 12:31 Seek first the kingdom of God and these things shall be added unto you. As you seek the kingdom of God, you will find that there is a group of people that agrees with you in your particular beliefs. These are the people of your church. Church is such a misunderstood word anymore. It is not the four walls of the building you gather in, but rather, the hearts of the people you are in agreement with. Since this is the actual case, you will never find the wrong church. There are people in your church that will not agree with everything you say or do, but they agree with the basics of your beliefs. And they continue to love you no matter how much you argue your case with them. :)

There is none. They're all corrupt businesses that want your money and won't pay taxes.

Searched for a long time.

Recently found Reform Judaism, and feel it's the right match for me. It's an intellectual religion, and allows my skepticism towards God.
