Why have I never heard of them being called "Dish Lickers"?
Apparently that's what they are called here in Australia.
I take it is because they are dogs & dogs are known to be fond of dishes being licked clean?
I guess because you don't go to Greyhound race tracks. At times the term dish lickers is referring to the track it's self. As in "I won a hundred bucks at the dish lickers". And you would be right as far as dogs being called dish lickers because they like to lick their dishes clean. Kinda like calling an Owl a hooter or many other things like that. Maybe calling a Kangaroo a hopper or a Koala Bear a eucalyptus muncher. I don't know if Australians call those animals those things but you get the gist.
