Why are things on the internet so damned cheap?

I shop on amazon.co.uk and there are so many bargains, like brand new dvd box sets with RRP £50 and I can get them for like £15 on the net, also batteries I got 8 really good ones for only £3.69 and no P&P.
What makes things on the net so cheap?

A store has to pay rent, business rates (the business equivalent of Council Tax), electricity, staff wages etc. etc. Any web site charging full retail price is actually profiteering because it has none of these business overheads

The websites dont have to pay for premises, staff etc.

This means they can make the prices lower so more people purchase online :)
