Why are wiccans the laughing stock of religion?

Because believing in magic is so more far fetched than believing some guy with a bear who controls everything, and who's son came down from heaven and died for us, then came back to life? Hmm? No. Respect for other religions is so lost on christians.
There are always exceptions to every rule, and this one. Yes, I realize that not ~all~ christians mock wiccans, but have you seen this place? Any question regaurding it is completely shunned.

Is that what you think? Kind of a blanket statement, is it not? I (christian) am more than encouraging of others religious ideals. I admit my own have shunned the beliefs of others, however to generalize us all seems a tad audacious, if not pretentious.

Because a lot of the people that claim to be Wiccans are really just naive teenagers who make outrageous claims of what they can do an who they are. Most of the time these teenagers are not even really Wiccan as they truly do not understand what the religion is about.

Secondly, it's because in this day and age where threat of death is unlikely, a good many of us feel that we need to be respected, so we disrespect others in the process (I have found myself to be guilty of this from time to time) by demanding respect ourselves. However, as time goes on I find myself more willing to turn my cheek to their gibberish, do what is right for my path and stop worrying about what other people may think of my practices or beliefs.

Stereotyping all Christians to be narrow-minded is just as wrong, for I found that with respect for their religion comes respect for ours; not that it is necessarily true for all Christians, but I do believe that the true Christians out there would embrace you as a friend, rather than shun you as an enemy, just because of a difference of religion.

As a Wiccan myself, I have all sorts of friends, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Pagan, Buddhist--the list goes on. It all starts with understanding.
