Why aren't my fish eating from the automatic food dispenser?

I'm going on a holiday soon, and I've installed an automatic fish feeder for my vertical tropical fish tank; however, I've been monitoring the feeder, and when the food dispenses, the fish don't notice it and won't eat the flakes that come out. (they forget to eat)

I'm going on a holiday for 2 weeks; do you think that they'll eventually notice it and eat when they get hungry?
I have two 5cm diameter Silver Dollars and one 6cm diameter Black Widow.

P.S. It is unlikely I could get a friend to come over and feed it once as I am very isolated.
