Why arn't subwoofers in my Honda Prelude not working?

I have 2- 12" Eclipse Subs boxed with a Phonex gold amp. When I hooked these up they are hitting very little if at all. There is no doubt that I have hooked these up properly, as they have been checked professionally. We changed out the amp with one of my friends amp and it still isn't hitting properly. Please help
