can someone break it all the way down? I got a spool of wire, a switch, a back up switch just in case the 1st switch doesnt work, a bunch of fuses in all different amps, and 2 neon light strips. for some reason, i can't get it to work. i have zero experience in the electrical side of working on cars. I can easily do all the mechanical parts, but for some reason, i can't figure out how to hook these neon lights up. its really frustrating and I think I'll just end up paying someone to do it, which kinda defeats the point of doing it to begin with.
could it be the lights themselves? originally, they went to a box, then to the 12V plug that went in my cigarette lighter. are those the wrong kind to buy? how do i wire them? 1 wire goes to a ground and the other to a switch? you wiring nuts say it like its the easiest thing in the world, and i'm sure it is, but for some reason its just not clicking in my head.

as i understand it, it goes:

ground<-----------neon lights wires------>switch-------->fuse(or car battery positive side)

is there anything i'm missing? my job definitely has me doing stuff life times beyond this level, but its just not working out from my head, to the car.

also, if i do it to a fuse box, can i plug any fuse in, and hook it up, or what does the amps have to be at? and is there a different amount of amps needed for 2 strips than 1 strip? or eventually 4 strips (driver, passenger and under the seats for the rear as well)?
