The bike has 5500 miles on it and ran fine last july. The starter was acting up! So I haven't got it started since last aug.. I put a rebuilt starter on it and one of those clips for the starter mech.. It turned over half way(it ran for a moment) then started clicking.(Like the starter wasn't getting enough juice.) So I went to sears and got a new diehard battery. And I let it charge, but the bike still only cranks the starter once every 20 tries( other than that it is still just clicking)!! Can someone get me on the right track??

Defective starter solenoid.
The battery (+) cable goes to the solenoid.
Touch the 2 large terminals on the solenoid at the same time with a large screw driver.
If the engine cranks as normal, replace the solenoid.

Unhook your battery and check all your connections to be sure they're tight. Might be the switch on the handlebar too, and follow connections down just in case they might be loose. Was the battery FULLY charged?
